How We Use AI
The Ushuaia Times uses AI systems as a tool in our editorial process, not as a substitute for it. Every article that runs on this site, whether it starts from a tip, a wire report, or an AI-assisted first draft, is reviewed, edited and explicitly approved by a human editor before it is published.
In practice, that means AI may help us monitor sources, gather background research, translate and summarize Spanish-language reporting, and produce first-draft text for a story. It does not decide what we cover, does not publish anything automatically, and does not have final say over the wording, framing or conclusions of any article. Those decisions are made by the publication's editor.
Every draft, including AI-assisted ones, goes through the same review described in our Editorial Standards: sourcing is checked, claims are cross-referenced against other coverage, and the piece is edited for accuracy, context and clarity before anything goes live.
We byline our reporting "By The Editors" rather than attributing individual articles to a named AI system, because the human editorial judgment applied to sourcing, framing and final wording is what we are accountable for, not the drafting tool used to get there.
