The Ushuaia Times was created to address a simple gap: Much of Argentina's news is reported primarily in Spanish. Our goal is to make that coverage accessible to readers who prefer English, with the context needed to understand why a story matters.
The Ushuaia Times is an independent English-language publication founded by an American living in Argentina. We cover politics, the economy, business, society and other developments shaping the country, for readers both inside and outside Argentina.
Why "Ushuaia"?
The Ushuaia Times is named for Ushuaia, the world's southernmost city, reflecting Argentina's geographic reach. Despite the name, we cover all of Argentina, as well as developments across South America.
Who We Are
The Ushuaia Times is independently run, with no outside investors or political affiliation shaping coverage. It's a small operation: stories are reported, edited and fact-checked by the editors before anything is published — see Editorial Standards for how that works.
