President Milei arrived in Paris on Wednesday to lead Argentina Week, a three-day investment showcase whose centerpiece is a private meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace on Thursday evening, according to the Buenos Aires Herald and Perfil.
The official delegation includes Presidency Secretary Karina Milei, Economy Minister Luis Caputo, Central Bank President Santiago Bausili, Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno and Deregulation Minister Federico Sturzenegger, along with about a dozen provincial governors and Buenos Aires City Mayor Jorge Macri. Executives traveling with the president include YPF's Horacio Marín, Globant's Martín Migoya and Pan American Energy's Marcos Bulgheroni, the Herald reported.
Milei gives the keynote on Thursday morning at the headquarters of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, followed by panels on energy, mining, agribusiness, retail, healthcare and biotechnology. The meeting with Macron is scheduled for 6:50 p.m. Paris time (1:50 p.m. in Argentina), followed by an official reception. It will be the pair's fifth bilateral meeting, after encounters in Paris, Buenos Aires and Nice in 2024 and 2025, according to the Herald.
On Friday the program turns to energy, critical minerals and the nuclear sector in sessions held with the International Energy Agency, and to the trade and investment opportunities of the Mercosur-European Union agreement at the International Chamber of Commerce. Milei is also due to meet Nobel-winning economist Philippe Aghion and receive an award from the Paris Economic Forum before the event closes.
The trip, announced this month with a record delegation of governors, is the government's main pitch to European investors this year, built around its new rules for mining, nuclear power and oil and gas. It comes as Argentina's country risk premium has climbed to its highest level in months.
