US Vice President JD Vance plans to visit Argentina in November to meet President Milei, according to Argentine reports on Thursday, October 1, that cite Buenos Aires and Washington sources. It would be the first trip to Argentina by a sitting US vice president since Mike Pence in 2017.
Infobae reported that officials in Washington confirmed the trip. A government source told the TN news channel that the visit was confirmed, was requested by the US side and is part of a regional trip, with a meeting with Milei at the Casa Rosada, the presidential offices in Buenos Aires, according to the Buenos Aires Times. The reports say Vance would spend two to three days in Argentina.
No date, itinerary or venue has been set, and neither government has published an announcement. La Capital reported that Argentine government spokespeople avoided confirming the visit until the United States announces it, although a government source told TN it is confirmed.
Vance and Milei met at the White House in October 2025, when President Trump hosted the Argentine leader. The Trump administration has since backed Argentina with a US$20 billion support package and, in September, up to US$7 billion for a new infrastructure corridor. Milei is also trying to renegotiate the US trade deal, which Washington has ruled out.
The visit would fall in the same month as Pope Leo XIV's trip to Argentina on November 8-11. The US has not said when in November Vance would come.
